• Reduce your overall carbohydrate intake, particularly sugars and starches.
• Increase your protein intake.
• Reduce your intake of saturated fat.
• Eat sufficient amounts of good fat each day (such as nuts, avocado and oils).
• Eat five to six small meals per day (small, regular meals are better for the metabolism than large, infrequent meals).
• Follow a structured resistance training program at least once every week.
• Perform cardiovascular exercise before breakfast at least three times per week.
• Wait an hour to eat after you exercise to maximise fat burning (but no longer than one hour as your metabolism will decline).
• Ensure the exercise program you are on is set specifically for you in terms of your natural body type, goal, how active you are, and your level of muscle mass. The same program will not work for everyone.
