Head to work in the morning with clean, groomed hair and you can easily style it up later in the day. All you need are a few essentials in your top drawer to create these four easy styles...
Make waves: “Spritz damp hair with a thickening lotion or work in some gel, then twist it into a knot and secure with hair pins,” says hairstylist Barney Martin from Sydney’s Barney Martin Hairdressing. “At the end of the day,” he says, “just shake it upside-down and you’ll have understated waves.”
The easy quiff: “You can’t go past the quiff if you have long hair,” says Martin. Smooth down hair with a large paddle brush and secure into a ponytail leaving the fringe out. Back-comb the fringe with a fine-tooth comb and pull it back into a quiff, securing with bobby pins. Finish with lots of hairspray.
Add an accessory: If you have short hair, a diamanté clip or comb looks glamorous swept to the side, while a pretty Alice band dresses up a ponytail or tousled bun.
Braid it: “If your hair is still a bit flat, make it work for you,” says Martin. Mist on a shine spray, avoiding the roots. Pull hair back into a tight low ponytail and braid it. Then twist the braids into the bun and secure with bobby pins. “It’s simple, but looks dressy,” he says.
