Alexander McQueen's eponymous fashion label will carry on, holding firm PPR announced, saying that they believed in the future of the brand and were working hard to continue its growth.

"I believe strongly in the Alexander McQueen brand and its future," said Robert Polet, president and chief executive of PPR subsidiary The Gucci Group, which holds a 50% stake in the McQueen label.

"Alexander McQueen will leave an important legacy that Gucci will continue to protect, grow and celebrate."

The late designer, who was found hanged in his London apartment last week, was scheduled to preview his latest collection at New York Fashion Week, though the show was cancelled after news of his death. The runway presentation is expected to be held on March 9, during Paris Fashion Week.
