Madison news - Karl Lagerfeld's collection for Macy's

Karl Lagerfeld has designed a diffusion line for US department store giant, Macy’s, and late last week 15 looks were displayed in an editor's preview. According to reports, they didn't disappoint. Lagerfeld's signature touches could be seen all over the clothes, from the crisp white shirts to the statement jackets. There were several standout pieces, including the impeccably tailored tuxedo dress, pictured. The range also includes Karl’s signature fingerless leather gloves and a tank featuring Lagerfeld’s visage. Chairman, president, and CEO of Macy's Inc. Terry J. Lundgren, said it's "a tremendous honor to bring his inimitable perspective to our fashion customer."

The Kaiser believes his work "adds a new dimension of attainable luxury" as it allows the everyday fashion consumer to be as chic as if they were buying Chanel. This affordable range of 45 items is due to be dispatched, on the 31st of August, to 235 flagship stores across the US. But Australian readers don't despair, a few of the items will be available on the Macy's website and Karl is also reportedly creating a masstige line which will be sold on the web also. So we can all get a little bit of Lagerfeld's brand of chic.

"To me Macy’s is the perfect department store in the US," says Lagerfeld, who has previously collaborated with H&M. "Everybody can find what they’re looking for without ruining their budget." We can only hope that a collaboration with some of Australia's local talents will be on the cards for King Karl sometime soon.
