budget furniture

I have just moved into my first home, am short on cash but would like to fill some ‘empty spaces’ and buy some furniture. What can I do?
Scour second hand stores for unique pieces that may only need a little sanding or paint to become fabulous furniture. A good idea is to get mismatched pieces and paint them white. For an eclectic look, use a natural colour, or get creative and use a few colours. Empty walls require some artwork and this does not need to be expensive. Simply buy some canvas boards and either cover them with fabric or paint in a block colour. These look very effective when hung on a bare wall. Finally, invest in some basics to fill your kitchen cupboards. Every kitchen must have a good microwave, oven, toaster and wok or fry pan, and you can find these in new or close-to-it condition on Ebay.
