Melbourne has long been lauded as Australia's design capital, and now it has one more reason to deserve the title: in August, it will play host to Life Instyle, a trade expo dedicated to showcasing the best in homewares, giftware, lifestyle and children's products.

Held at the Flemington Showgrounds, the expo features over 300 exhibitors, and will attract local and international buyers, interior designers, stylists and design enthusiasts. Claire Cau-Cecile, Director and Founder of Life Instyle, spoke to madison about some of the emerging trends visitors can expect to see at the event - "We are already seeing consistent trends emerging, such as the inclusion of birds, butterflies and hints of nature featuring strongly in jewellery and textile ranges.  The clever use of print, typography and words are appearing largely in homewares, textiles and soft furnishings, reminding us of the impact a bold statement can have.  In terms of colour we are seeing splashes of oranges, aquas and blush pinks, hinting at the first signs of Spring.  The movement towards sustainable and eco-friendly products for the home continues steadily as well.”
