style news: 31.03.10

With her cherubic cheeks, penchant for tattoos and piercings, and propensity to get naked in the name of fashion, Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw has been making waves ever since she burst onto the modelling scene in 2004. Having starred in campaigns from Gucci, D&G and CK Jeans, Abbey Lee has cemented her status as a top model with a starring role in Chanel’s upcoming A/W 10 -11 advertising campaign.

Karl Lagerfeld has bestowed the honour of appearing in a Chanel campaign to only two other Australians – Nicole Kidman in 2004, and Alyssa Sutherland in 2007.

But Abbey Lee is the first Aussie to claim the ultimate fashion trifecta - she closed Chanel's Spring 2010 couture show alongside the Kaiser’s favourite Baptiste Giabiconi and then opened its arctic-themed Ready-to-Wear A/W 10 -11 collection in an fur suit. Less than three weeks later, she was named as the face of Chanel’s latest campaign.

We love to see an Australian model making it big on the world stage. Congratulations to Abbey Lee!
