At a time when every second celebrity is designing a clothing line, at least one star is doing it ethically. Actor and Burberry campaign girl Emma Watson’s collection for UK fair-trade clothing company People Tree has finally been revealed. The range of preppy basics includes cotton vests and cardigans for the girls and hoodies and polos for the boys, all in a Union Jack colour palette. Manufactured in poverty-stricken communities in India, Bangladesh and Nepal, the clothes have an important ethical message. To highlight the cause, some pieces are emblazoned with environmental slogans such as “Please don’t panic I’m organic” and “I’m not toxic”. The campaign photoshoot, set in an idyllic country garden, features Watson’s close friends and her model brother Alex – and, of course, the English rose herself.
