Absolutely EVERYTHING about the
Dior Couture Autumn/Winter 12-13 show was a triumph.
There were
thousands of fresh flowers, including blue delphiniums, pink peonies and orchids that cascaded over the walls of a sumptuous private residence, paying tribute to Christian Dior and his love for “
gardens in bloom”.
New Creative Director,
Raf Simons was inspired by Christian Dior’s original
New Look, referencing nipped-in waists and exaggerated hips with litres of fabric.
Makeup director
Pat McGrath worked her magic backstage with a strongly pigmented “
technicolor look”. I loved the
drama of the silver lid with a
slash of fluoro pink. Lashes were coated with black mascara and powdered with coloured pigments while brows
were brushed and lightly pencilled.
The base was pale, matte and
cheekbones were highlighted with a pinky blush.
Lips were powerful in an orangey red. They were lined with a nude lip-liner, while a touch of fluoro pink appeared at the centre.
Hair was crafted by Guido Palau, and was centre-parted,
loose and natural so as not to overwhelm the makeup.
Love love love.
