For her spring/summer 2012/2013 show Alice McCall took us on trip into Hungarian folk art and babushka dolls. Aptly titled Babooshka, the collection featured folky needlepoints, embroidery and lace on babydoll dresses and chiffon pieces. Layering was applied to a majority of the looks. The layers not only varied in length but in texture, fabrics and colour. Delicate gold meshing flowed over crisp white undergarments, the sun-drenched floral prints poked through sheer floor-length pieces, while the predominately white palette was the perfect contrast to the crisp primary hues seen in the prints. One of our favourites was the baby blue leather shorts - a summer wardrobe must-have.
