madison is thrilled to be working with
Tourism Queensland to uncover the best secrets of Brisbane and share these with you, our readers who are always up for adventure and a new holiday spot.
We'd just like to introduce you to our team of bloggers who bring you the best in features, news and information each month in
madison who have joined forces to bring you the latest in hot spots and what’s happening in our Queensland capital.
Farrah Buttmadison's resident Brit, Farrah Butt has been a journalist for over 10 years. She has written about everything from how to achieve the perfect orgasm (yeah, don't ask) to human trafficking and interviewed everyone from Lauren Bacall to Miranda Kerr. She would like to write a novel, win a Pulitzer and play Scrabble with Salman Rushdie. Not much to ask, is it?
Jessica MontagueJessica Montague has been a journalist with
madison magazine for four years, most recently specialising in health and exercise. Best described as a sunshine-loving Sydneysider who thinks sport should be listed an official religion, she’s also not averse to tottering around in six-inch high heels – often while watching the rugby at the pub.
Janine IsraelJanine Israel is
madison’s deputy chief sub-editor. In her eight-year career, she has reported on everything from federal politics to fetish parties (no, not at the same time). Janine has been shocked and awed by all things Queensland since watching the 1988 documentary, Cane Toads: An Unnatural History.
Sherine YoussefSherine Youssef has been obsessed with magazines ever since the days when she would hide out at the back of English class and serially flick the pages of her favourite publications (sorry Ms MacDonald!). Sherine, who has been at
madison since launch in 2005, is currently filling the role of beauty editor where she is trying to figure out how many ways one can say “lipstick”.
Alex O’BrienAlex grew up in ol’ Sydney town by the beach with her parents and four sisters. Her favourite getup when she was little used to be pink lippie, her mum’s high heels and pictures of jewellery, cut out of magazines and fastened onto her with sticky tape. It was this constant flipping through magazines in search of necklaces, rings and earrings to stick to herself, that began her obsession with these pretty, glossy books and everything on their pages. And so, years later, after studying journalism, buying some 3D jewellery and some heels that fit, Alex began a career in magazines, where such addictions are nourished on a daily basis with lots of beautiful magazine content and endless laugh-out-loud girly office chat.
Alexandra CarltonAlexandra Carlton is a mum first, then the Deputy Features Editor for
madison magazine and Associate Editor for
Your Body magazine where she writes across news, fashion, living, health and celebrity. Previously, she’s written for
The Sydney Morning Herald,
ABC Online, The Sunday Telegraph, Who, GQ, Cosmopolitan and
Home Beautiful.
When she’s not being paid to write she writes recreationally - either happily Twittering into the void or in the form of long-winded emails to friends, family and her infinitely tolerant partner. Her likes include the bands
Animal Collective, The Dirty Projectors and
Dinosaur Jr and fashion labels Marni, Willow and Alexander Wang. Dislikes include fruit and meat on the same plate, flat shoes and people who write the word “tome” when “book” will do.
