new cosmetic surgery procedures: plasma skin regeneration
WHAT IS IT? Plasma Skin Regeneration (known as “Portrait”) fights wrinkles, sun damage and acne scarring. Portrait uses ionised inert nitrogen gas (plasma energy) to heat skin tissue, eliciting a defence response and, in turn, creating new collagen (which is the protein that gives skin firmness and strength). This helps improve texture, smooth wrinkles and tighten lax skin. It’s great for the resistant lines and loose skin under the eyes, as well as smoker’s lines around the mouth.
PAIN FACTOR: Pain medication is a requisite for the 15 to 30-minute treatment, after which a layer of soothing petrolatum is applied. This should be repeated every two hours for the first 48 hours following the procedure.
WHY HAVE IT? The plasma technique doesn’t actually remove the skin’s top layer, so there are no open wounds, or prolonged downtime. The heat energy is instead delivered deep within the skin to stimulate new cell growth, but the outer layers remain intact and act as a natural dressing during the healing process. After about seven days, the outer layers shed to reveal the fresh, new, wrinkle-free skin. The improvements continue for up to a year as the skin continues to remodel itself.
HOW MUCH IS IT? $3500.
