Beauty: ask the editor – good skin

You asked: What are quick ways to refresh my skin after lots of nights out, bad food and drinking?

It’s important to stick to your usual beauty rules – cleanse skin daily, remove all make-up before bed, wear SPF everyday – and then add a few extras.

Some options:

1. A DIY facial massage with a facial oil will temporarily plump skin and stimulate circulation (be sure to let the oil fully absorb before applying makeup), leaving you looking brighter and sans sunken cheeks or eyes;

2. switch to a hydrating or brightening primer for instant gratification. A thin layer of a good primer under your foundation will work wonders, trust us (See our pick of the best primers here);

3. keep a facial mist handy for on-the-go dewiness. We recommend Jane Iredale Pommist, Youngblood Minerals in the Mist and Benefit Ultra Radiance.

If you have a little more time to prep, try the I Need range of facial masks by MyFaceWorks ($67 for a box of six, beautyworkswest.com.au). For skin maintenance, prevention or repair, these fuss-free, portable sheet masks help combat the side effects of a packed social calendar.

  • I am getting shallac nails done regularly and I am concerned about the use of the intense UV light lamps. My salon has invested in a stronger UV lamp to speed up the drying process from 2 minutes to 30 seconds. It feels like my nails and fingers are burning. What do you think? cheers REPORT COMMENT
